About Us

Gunning Transmission and Distribution Services Limited (GTDS) was established in July 2004 to provide specialist High Voltage (HV) installation and commissioning services to the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) within the High Voltage (HV) Transmission & Distribution industry.
Key management positions were filled with individuals with extensive experience gained working for recognised world leading companies within the HV Transmission & Distribution industry.

GTDS has a highly qualified and skilled team of people offering specialist design, installation, and commissioning services to the HV Transmission & Distribution industry. Our staff are engaged on projects throughout the UK.

GTDS provides a full turnkey installation and commissioning service at all voltage levels between 0.4kV, 6.6kV and 400kV – Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). Our Head Office is in Kent. Our Project Delivery Office is in Stafford.

Achilles UVDB qualification allows us to showcase our services, demonstrate our competence, improve our services; measure our performance; and connect with buyers in industry sector. It also allows us to gain eligibility for a huge range of contract opportunities.

British Safety Council Member

We have a moral and legal obligation to take care of our staff and stakeholders. Being a member allows us to tap into a wealth of Health and Safety knowledge, experience, and legislative updates etc. To help us provide a safe working environment for all our staff and all those connected to our activities on site.

Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

We have a moral and legal obligation to ensure that we always protect our staff and stakeholders’ personal information and keep it secure.

ISO Certificate of Registration

Achieving ISO Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Management certification was a hard-won goal which has benefited our business in many ways. It has helped us set our goals and ambitions to a high level and drive continuous improvement within our business. Internal processes have become more streamlined and efficient. We are better aligned with our customers KPIs and operate in a more professional manner.

Waste Certificate

We have a moral and legal obligation to ensure that waste generated by our operations is managed and disposed of in an environmentally responsible way, in full compliance with the law.

Health & Safety

We at GTDS firmly believe that the only way to keep our staff, contractors, stakeholders and the public safe, is to establish and maintain, high Health & Safety standards, through the establishment, implementation, regular auditing and reviewing of fully documented procedures in accordance with OHSAS. ISO 45001:2018

GTDS has an excellent Health & Safety record, thanks to the efforts of all our staff and contractors who fully understand their moral and legal obligation to look after each other and everyone else involved in delivering our projects.

Environment

We at GTDS firmly believe that the only way to ensure that our site works do not cause damage to or impact the natural biodiversity of the environment for example, air pollution, water pollution or damage to flora and fauna, is to establish and maintain, high Environmental standards, through the establishment, implementation, regular auditing and reviewing of fully documented procedures in accordance with OHSAS. ISO14001: 2015.

GTDS has an excellent Environmental record, thanks to the efforts of all our staff and contractors who fully understand their moral and legal obligation to look after the Environment when delivering our projects.

Environmental Risk Management and mitigation is at the heart of all our activities on site.

GTDS will not under any circumstances, cause short term or long-term damage to the environment. We understand that we must take special care to protect the environment during our activities on site and off site. We will not risk damage to the environment in pursuit of profit.

From the outset of any project we deliver, our aim is to reduce waste by design, enabling a circular economy and ensure that any waste we generate can be recycled and dealt with responsibly.

Quality

We at GTDS firmly believe that the only way to establish and maintain, high Quality standards is through the establishment, implementation, regular auditing and reviewing of fully documented procedures in accordance with OHSAS. ISO 9001:2015.

GTDS continually improves the effectiveness of its Integrated Management System (IMS) through the effective application of the corporate policies, procedures, objectives, auditing and data analysis, corrective and preventative actions and management reviews.

GTDS has an excellent Quality record, thanks to the efforts of all our staff and contractors, who fully understand the importance of quality control. Our customers expect us to provide equipment and services that are of the highest quality, Poor quality can lead to failure of equipment with potential catastrophic consequences, leading to injury or death. It is our duty to set the quality bar high and not risk quality in pursuit of profit.

Programme Management

We fully appreciate, how important it is for us to meet the agreed project key dates and we understand the risks to the Transmission and Distribution System should we fail to maintain programme.

GTDS has never failed to deliver on time and within budget, in many cases with time to spare.

Corporate and Social Responsibility

Building a resilient, sustainable business is at the heart of everything we do. From day one, we have reinvested all our profits back into the business to provide a solid financial base. This also enables us to employ young inexperienced people and give them opportunity to attend college or university to attain the necessary qualifications and experience to grow and develop in this fast changing, exiting industry.

Having a sustainable business also allows us to help our local communities. GTDS provides financial assistance to several organisations involved in various sports for young people, providing them with the skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. GTDS has sponsored the Royal British Legion Northern Cycle Ride for many years, participation has grown from strength to strength.
