The Works included detailed civil, primary, and secondary design and engineering, project management, SHEQ management, the removal of redundant in-situ SGT, Shunt Reactor, primary and secondary equipment, structures, foundations, and bund walls etc.
Procurement of materials and equipment, civil works, installation and commissioning of new primary equipment, protection and control modification works, LVAC upgrades, etc. During the replacement of the SGT, Shunt Reactor and primary switchgear, busbar disconnectors, line disconnectors and earth switches were refurbished.
Several challenges had to be overcome during the construction works, in particular contaminated ground, which had to be shipped from site for processing, causing significant delays to programme. The GTDS delivery team made a huge effort to make up the lost time, ensuring that the SGT and Shunt Reactor were stage 1 commissioned and energised on time.
