Scope of Commissioning Services:

High Voltage Power System Transmission & Distribution Testing and Commissioning:

Comprehensive testing of power systems is essential to ensure optimum performance and confirm that all plant and equipment will operate safely within the design parameters.

GTDS provides a comprehensive testing and commissioning service to cater for all systems and voltage levels, including complex protection and control schemes in use on HV Transmission and Distribution systems.

Our comprehensive commissioning and testing services include but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparation of detailed Commissioning Quality Plans, Commissioning Methodology Procedures, Risk Assessments, Factory Acceptance Test documents, Plant Test Schedules, and Quality Checklists for use during the Stage 1 Pre-Commissioning Tests, Commissioning Switching Programmes and Stage 2 Energisation Tests etc.
  • Secondary and Primary injection of complex Protection and Control Systems to prove Protection Relay operation and stability etc. 
  • Functional testing of complex Protection and Control Systems.
  • High Voltage AC and DC pressure testing of switchgear, busbars, and cables.
  • VLF cable testing
  • G59/3 Protection, ROCOF and Vector Shift Testing for Renewable Energy Generation connections to the grid.
  • Installation of control system database upgrades and re-testing on site
  • Factory acceptance testing of Protection and Control Systems prior to delivery to site.
  • Site acceptance testing of protection and control systems
  • Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Substation Earthing System tests including soil resistivity testing and fall of earth potential tests.

GTDS test and commissioning engineers are fully equipped with all the necessary company owned automatic computer programmable test equipment used for secondary and primary injection of electronic protection relays (IEDs) where extensive simulation of power system conditions is required.

All GTDS test equipment is fully calibrated to traceable national standards in-line with company procedures.
